Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Trinamool Congress has won all the seats in the by-elections held on four assembly seats in West Bengal. After this victory, the number of Trinamool MLAs in the assembly has increased. However, with this victory, confusion has again come to the fore regarding the oath-taking of four new MLAs.
However, every kind of preparation is being done by the assembly to ensure that there is no problem this time. Speaker of the Assembly Biman Banerjee has written a letter to Governor CV Anand Bose and requests him to start the process of oath-taking next week.
In this letter, Biman Banerjee has urged that the Governor himself should come to the assembly and administer the oath to the new MLAs or give this responsibility to the Speaker of the Assembly himself. At the same time, if sources are to be believed, if the Governor does not give a positive response in this situation, then the Speaker will call a session of the Assembly and administer the oath to these MLAs.
In this matter, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shobhandeb Chattopadhyay said that the Governor can hand over the responsibility of administering the oath to the new MLAs to the Speaker of the Assembly. The Speaker can administer oaths to the elected MLAs after the assembly session begins.
